Do you have questions or feel lost using your computer or mobile device? Would you like to read your emails on your smartphone, share your holiday photos with your relatives or look at them on the television screen? Have you been wondering how to safely store your data and still access them easily?
Sadly, gender stereotyping still lets many of us face technical questions with less self-confidence. My experience has taught me that discussing one's questions with another lady often comes easier, which is why I ended up offering private computer lessons to women. I'm looking forward to supporting you.
Ask me whatever you'd like to know. In general, it shouldn't take you much to get more comfortable using your little helper. Just as new mothers get more confident while negociating hurdles, you'll face new technologies with more confidence and you might even discover a whole new world.
Whatever question you may have regarding your Mac, iPhone, iPad or any other computer, smartphone or tablet, even television or others, I'll support you in a personal way that will allow you to use and maintain your device all by yourself.
Lessons concerning mobile devices take place at my home in Zurich. If your questions concern a desktop computer, I'll come to your house or we'll have a virtual session sharing the screen, just as if we were sitting at the same desk.
My name is Alessandra Donzé, I'm a Computer Scientist (MSc EPF CS), mother of two and have been a huge Apple fan since 1995 when teenagers used to spend their Sunday afternoons listening to the charts on the radio with the intention to run to the music shop on Monday after school to finally buy the album with the new favourite song on. Nowadays music is digitally available for legal download or streaming at any time. Nearly every household owns a computer and most of us cannot imagine a world without internet or smartphones. Even though computers and mobile devices have become much more affordable and user friendly, using them isn't always just obvious for everyone and many of us would be surprised to see how powerful their device actually is.
Supporting women who have lost the confidence in their abilities when facing technical questions is very dear to my heart. This is why I enjoyed tutoring girls in Mathematics at grammar school and leading courses for girls in order to introduce them to Computer Science during my studies at EPF Lausanne.
As a mum I have been involved in an NGO dedicated to supporting breastfeeding mothers for many years, where I realised that computer problems and breastfeeding troubles are not quite that different after all: They both require a certain knowledge to be solved, and solving them gives the self-confidence a boost and makes life a lot easier.
Let's tackle your computer problems. I'm looking forward to supporting you.
Even an offer as flexible as mine needs a certain frame. I'm working to the best of my knowledge and belief and I respect your precious privacy. I'll happily provide you with a free personal tutorial upon request.
In any case I assume no responsibility for any lost data, which is why I'm kindly asking you to back up your data for your own safety before meeting with me. I'll be happy to assist if you think it's necessary.
Apart from that no preparation is needed. It might, however, be helpful to have your passwords within reach.
I charge CHF 30.– per quarter of an hour or part thereof, since many questions can be answered quickly but still go along with a certain preparation, follow-up activities or travelling-expenses that are not charged separately.
Payment methods: preferably cash or Twint, loyal customers also on account.
